Red Sox president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski said that the team will not contact David Ortiz in regards to coming out of retirement.
Ortiz took to Instagram following his former team's trade for Chris Sale, writing, "my boy sale to Btown? You guys got me thinking." Dombrowski logically took it as a joke, but made a point to deny that the team would try to lure Ortiz out of retirement. "I know David well enough -- and I know that if he really had sincere interest, that he would call," Dombrowski said. For what it's worth, Ortiz would not be eligible to return from the voluntary retirement list for the first 60 days of the 2017 season. But he's not coming back, guys.
